BIGGEST MOVER

Movement was minimal this week, but Rancho Cotate gets the official title of Biggest Mover by debuting at No. 18. The Cougars already have four quality wins, and get a week off before arguably their biggest regular season game of the year — a North Bay League, Oak Division-opener against No. 17 Cardinal Newman. Other notes from this week: We didn’t drop No. 11 Oak Ridge for its lopsided loss to No. 2 Folsom. That’s how every Sierra Foothill League opponent is likely to fare against the world-beating Bulldogs. Also, Monte Vista was a tough one to take all the way out after losing on a last-second kick to then-No. 20 Bishop O’Dowd. The Mustangs stay in the “Next 5” though and should have an opportunity to work their way back in. Their defense was very impressive in the loss.
